Cheney's Water Is Back to Normal, and Here's What That Means for You

Hi everyone!

Good news: Well #3 is back online and repaired. The emergency water restrictions from last week have been lifted as of today, and we're back on our regular irrigation schedule.

Since restrictions can feel like a moving target, I wanted to use this as a chance to share the full schedule again for anyone new to it, or anyone who just wants a refresher.

Some context: on April 8, 2026, the Washington State Department of Ecology declared a statewide drought emergency, the fourth year in a row the entire state has been under a drought declaration. Low snowpack, a warm winter, and years of compounding precipitation deficits point to a tough summer ahead. With a serious fire season likely, we want our aquifer strong and ready.

Here's the irrigation schedule in place through the end of the season:

πŸ“… EVEN-numbered addresses: water Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday
πŸ“… ODD-numbered addresses: water Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
🚫 ALL addresses: no watering on Monday, giving our aquifer a day to recharge
πŸ€– Automated irrigation systems: water between 10pm and 8am
🌿 Non-automated systems: water between 8pm and 8am
πŸ₯• Garden watering (everyone): between 8pm and 8am
⏱️ Keep each watering session within a 2-hour window

Water is a precious resource and our community's lifeline. A little planning now goes a long way toward protecting what we all depend on. Thank you for doing your part.
