Who Are We?
Cheney, Coffee, & Civics is a group of civically minded and engaged Cheney-area residents who care deeply about our community and how decisions are made here.
We believe that a stronger Cheney starts with more people feeling informed, included, and empowered to participate in local civic life. When more voices are part of the conversation, our city is better equipped to make thoughtful, representative decisions.
Cheney, Coffee, & Civics is entirely resident- and community-led. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or acting on behalf of the City of Cheney or the Cheney School District.
What We Do
Our goal is simple: increase civic engagement throughout the Cheney community.
We do that by:
- Sharing clear, accessible information about local issues, city decisions, and civic processes
- Creating space for respectful discussion and learning
- Helping residents understand how to get involved—whether that’s attending a meeting, serving on a board, or simply staying informed
- Highlighting the people and work that help our city function
We aim to break down the idea that local government is confusing, inaccessible, or only for a few people. Civic participation doesn’t require expertise—just curiosity and care for the place you live.
Who We’re For
Cheney, Coffee, & Civics is for anyone who lives, works, studies, or has roots in the Cheney area and wants to better understand how our city works. You don’t have to agree on every issue to be part of the conversation—thoughtful, respectful disagreement is part of a healthy civic culture.
What We’re Not
We are not a political party, campaign, or advocacy organization. We don’t tell people what to think—we focus on sharing information and encouraging participation so individuals can form their own opinions and engage in the ways that make sense for them.
Why It Matters
Local decisions shape our daily lives—from parks and schools to utilities, development, and public spaces. When more community members are informed and involved, those decisions better reflect the needs and values of the people who live here.
We believe Cheney is strongest when more of us show up.
